Zamfara: Nigerian Military Rescues 22 Kidnap Victims

The Military has rescued 22 kidnap victims after a heavy exchange of fire with members of an armed group.

The victims were handed over to the state government by Brig.Gen. Musliu Bello, the Commander of 1 Brigade, Nigerian Army, Gusau.

Abubakar Duaran, the Commissioner for Security in Zamfara State, said, “these are parts of the government’s effort, to negotiate with those who want peace and to deal with those who do not want peace. As you can see, the military has raided some of these bandits camps in different places and rescued victims.”

The 22 are 16 persons from Sokoto State and six from Zamfara State made up of one from Anka, one from Bukkuyum and four from Bakura local government areas.

Last week the military also rescued 17 victims between Zamfara and Katsina states in its effort to rid the Northwest zone of terror attacks by armed gangs.
