The Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19 listed Tarauni and Nasarawa in kano state among the Local Government Areas that contributed 60 per cent of COVID-19 cases in Nigeria.
The PTF Chairman, Boss Mustapha said this on Friday while receiving a donation of materials from the Rotary District 9125, where he was represented by the permanent Secretary-General Services Office, Olusegun Adekule.
The representative lamented that the two local government areas have become a breeding centre for the spread of the virus.
The PTF also listed some affected areas including Lagos Mainland, Alimosho, Eti-Osa, Ikeja, Apapa, Surulere, Oshodi, Kosofe, Lagos Island and Amuwo Odofin of Lagos state.
Others include FCT’s Abuja Municipal, Oredo in Edo, Bauchi in Bauchi state, Ado Odo/Ota in Ogun state, Katsina in Katsina state and Duste in Jigawa state.
The task force on COVID-19 said the reason for the rise in the spread of the virus is non-compliance by citizens to take precautionary measures.
He added that COVID-19 has negatively impacted the economy.
