Provide Intelligence For Security Agencies, Zamfara Governor Tells Traditional Rulers

The Governor of Zamfara State, Mr Bello Matawalle, has urged traditional rulers to provide intelligence for security personnel to deal with the security challenges in their communities.

The governor gave the charge when he received traditional rulers in the state who came to pay him sallah homage.

“Royal fathers have a great role to play in gathering and sharing of intelligence with security agencies that will lead to ending the security challenges especially banditry, kidnapping and cattle rustling facing, the Northern region,” the governor said in a statement.

The governor described sharing of genuine intelligence as the major bedrock of ending the security challenges and applauded security agencies and traditional rulers for their support.

He expressed appreciation for the support and the cooperation his government was getting from traditional rulers, especially the government peace process which had yielded positive results that led to the reopening of all the roads and market places that were not accessible or patronised before the coming of his administration.

He asked the traditional rulers to share intelligence with security agencies so that immediate appropriate measures could be taken to deal with issues, stressing that they were in better position to provide accurate and reliable intelligence because they interacted with the locals directly.

The governor reiterated his administration’s determination to protect the lives and properties of all citizens.

Earlier, the emirs of Shinkafi, Alhaji Muhammad Makwashe Isah, Zurmi, Alhaji Abubakar Atiku Muhammad, Kaura Namoda, Alhaji Sanusi Mohammed Ahmad Asha, Birnin Magaji, Alhaji Hussaini Mode and that of Tsafe, Alhaji Muhammad Abubakar Bawa expressed happiness in the way and manner the governor had handled the security situation in the state.

They assured him of their continued support and cooperation and urged him to sustain the carrot and stick approach in the fight against criminality in the state.
