The police in Katsina State have arrested two female nurses over the alleged theft and sale of a newborn baby in a private clinic.
The Public Relations Officer of the Police Command in Katsina State, Gambo Isah, in a statement explained that the suspects stole the baby at Okomos Clinic, Kofar Kaura Quarters, Katsina.
Isah said the women stole and sold the baby after its mother, a 25-year-old woman, abandoned it and left a hand written note stating that it was born out of wedlock.
He said the nurses, a 35 years old woman living in Filin Canada Quarters, Katsina State, and a 43-year-old woman living in Shagari Low Cost, Katsina, conspired and sold the child to a 45 years old woman living in Sabuwar Kasuwa Quarters, Katsina.
“Nemesis caught up with them when they were arrested on their way from the hospital to their houses with the child through the help of a Keke Napep (tricycle) rider who suspected them of stealing the child,” the police spokesman said.
He said more investigations were ongoing on the incident, which allegedly happened on July 25 and the suspects arrested two days later.
