Nigerian Troops Repel ISWAP Attack

Troops of Army Super Camp repelled a terrorist attack at the Ngamdu in Kaga Local Government Area of Borno State, on Thursday evening.

HumAngle learnt that the attack was carried out by some members of the Islamic State’s West Africa Province (ISWAP).

This attack came days after the chief of army staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai, conducted  a long range patrol along Ngamdu-Goniri forest on October 17.

Ngamdu is a border community between Borno and Yobe state, very close to the dreaded Alagarno forest area.

HumAngle had earlier reported the attack on troops of operation Lafiya Dole in Doksa Damboa local government area of Borno state.

Dozens of casualties were recorded and a Major was also killed in the incident. A number of combat support equipment was lost to the insurgents.

The military operation tagged ‘Lafiya Dole’ is engaged in a decade long counterinsurgency campaign against insurgent groups in Northeast Nigeria.

The incident happened days after the military began to push ahead with its new  subsidiary ‘Operation Fireball’ to target insurgents in the dreaded Timbuktu triangle – Sambisa Forest, Mandara Mountains and the Lake Chad region.

Violent terror groups in the North East of Nigeria have led to the death of over 30,000 people and displaced over 2 million
