The Catholic Archbishop of Douala metropolitan archdiocese has claimed that his Covid-19 treatment protocol had cured an unspecified number of coronavirus patients in several countries in Africa, Europe and America.
Monsignor Samuel Kleda claimed in a press conference in Douala on Thursday that he has treated COVID-19 patients with a concoction of local herbs. This claim remains unverified by both the Cameroonian health authorities and other relevant international health agencies.
According to the Catholic prelate, âfrom March to August 2020, 9,071 patients have benefited from the protocol both in Cameroon and externally notably in the United States, France, Belgium, Germany, Italy, Zambia, Gabon, etc.â
âThe protocol thus efficaciously treats the coronavirus within the respect of standardisation and fabrication norms. The mixture is not toxic and does not produce any secondary effects. No patient has ever presented any malaise after taking the treatment. It should be observed that no death has been registered within patients who have taken medicine. Even patients on respiratory assistance have been saved,â the Archbishop claimed.
As he has repeated over the past several weeks, âWe have defeated the Covid-19 in Cameroon. My team and I henceforth envisage orienting the protocol towards taking charge of other pathologies without normally forgetting of the coronavirusâ, the prelate declared.
Contrary to the clericâs claims, the current Covid-19 situation in the country stands at 20,009 declared cases, 18,837 cases successfully treated, and 415 deaths. The government also declared that it could not say the country has defeated the Covid-19 pandemic.
