Terrorists Attack Kano Community, Kidnap Businessman

A police vehicle was burnt down Wednesday morning while one person was kidnapped after gunmen invaded Unguwar Amsharu in Minjibir Local Government of Kano State, Northwest Nigeria, a local source said.

HumAngle learnt that the group stormed the community at about  2 am and terrorised the people.

Baffa Yusuf, a resident of the area, said: “They stormed  Unguwar Amsharu in the early morning shooting everywhere and terrorised the people”.

“ Police arrived in time and engaged in a  gunfight with them but the group overpowered the security and burnt their vehicle.”

“They later kidnapped Alhaji Abdullahi Kalos,” Yusuf added.

HumAngle learnt that Kalos is a wealthy and popular business man in the community

Abdullahi Haruna, Kano State Police Command Spokesperson, said that police had not got the information on the attack but would investigate it.

The attack came two days after some gunmen attacked Rogo Local Government Area,  burnt a vehicle belonging to a vigilante group and kidnapped the wife of a businessman in the Folgore community in the area.

Minjibir Local Government Area is one of the tourist communities in the Northwest region and is 32klometre to the east of the ancient Kano city.

In February 2013, the Local Government Area faced a similar attack where over 30 armed men invaded the area and attacked a police station.
