Few days after some gunmen abducted 48 persons from Batsari Local Government Area of Katsina State, at least seven persons were abducted Monday morning by a group of armed men from Barkishi village in Dandume Local Government Area of the state.
Three other persons were also injured by the attackers, local sources told HumAngle.
Earlier, a vigilante group leader, Umaru Balli was killed by gunmen believed to be “bandits” by the locals at a checkpoint in Rimin Maigora village and also injured some persons.
“They stormed our checkpoint at about 12:17am and killed our leader,” said Sayyadi, a member of the vigilante group.
“We are patrolling every day from Maigora town to Marrarbar Maigora because the place is very dangerous for commuters and the villagers.”
The attack that led to the death of Balli was not the first attempt on his life, Sayyadi told our reporter.
“This is not the first time they are making attempt to attack us, especially our leader. They overpowered us because they were carrying very sophisticated weapons.”
It was learnt that there were heavy gunshots between the terrorists and the vigilante group. It was not clear how many people were injured during the gun battle.
HumAngle reports that the Nigerian Army had in June established Army Super Camp and Operations Sahel Sanity in Faskari Local Government to checkmate the activities of terror groups and armed criminal groups in the state and other North west states in the region.
This has not stemmed the activities of the terrorists as Katsina State, Northwest Nigeria is fast becoming the headquarters of terror groups.
