Refugees To Benefit From National Social Investment Programme – Minister

Nigeria is developing modalities for the inclusion of refugees in social safety nets through the National Social Investment Programme, says Sadiya Umar Farouk, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development during the commemoration of World Refugee Day on Friday, June 19, 2020.

The event was marked with a press briefing where representatives of the United Nations High Commissioner Refugees, UNHCR), Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and the Nigerian Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons were present.

Farouk stated that. “As a responsive government, the government of Nigeria under President Muhammadu Buhari has deployed an inclusive approach in carrying out humanitarian interventions which have been exemplified in the context-specific interventions carried out during the period of COVID-19.
