Police, Vigilante Rescue Abducted UNIJOS Professor, Husband
A kidnapped University of Jos, Plateau State, North-central Nigeria Professor and her husband were rescued from kidnappers by police and vigilante.
Grace Adebimpe, the abducted University of Jos Professor and her husband have regained freedom from their captors, Police in Plateau State, North-central Nigeria has said.
Ubah Ogaba, spokesperson of the Plateau State Police Command disclosed this to HumAngle in a telephone conversation on Tuesday, May 18.
Ogaba told HumAngle that the couple, Grace Ayanbimpe and her husband Isaac Ayanbimpe were rescued by the Police Tactical Team, Plateau State Command, with the help of hunters and vigilantes.
The Professor of Medical Biology and her husband were abducted from their home, located at Haske Quarters, in the Lamingo area of Jos on Monday, May 17.
The abductors were said to have demanded a ransom of N15 million after making contact with their family. The police spokesperson did not deny or confirm if a ransom was paid to the kidnappers before they were rescued.
“I do not have that information,” Ogaba told HumAngle.
North-central Nigeria has come under increased attacks with recurrent abduction cases recorded in Niger, Benue, Plateau and other states.
