Police Arrest Suspected Armed Robbers, Rapists In Katsina

Police in Katsina, Northwest Nigeria have arrested six suspected armed robbers and two rapists terrorising some parts of the state.

Gambo Isah, Katsina Police Public Relations Officer told journalists at a press briefing that the arrest which was carried out on Sunday, November 22 followed a thorough investigation into the activities of the suspects in the state.

“The suspects have been disturbing Katsina metropolis with crimes, like burglary, car theft, stealing of domestic animals and also kidnappings,” Isah said.

One of the suspects, Sama’ila Muntari was arrested for parading himself as Sama’ila Muntari Alias a police officer at the Shagari Low-cost Police Station.


Others were arrested over crimes related to snatching motorcycles and breaking into shops.

The police also paraded two rapists, one of which is a 45-year-old headteacher of a primary school in the state.

According to the Police PRO, 45-year-old Usman Lawal lured a 13-year-old girl at Shakka Quarters into his apartment who forced himself on her.

Quoting Abdulhadi Abubakar of Tsauni village of Batagarawa Local Government Area in Katsina State, who is the father of the victim, Isah said the girl left home to hawk when the suspect lured her in and had canal knowledge of her.

He told journalists that the girl was taken to a hospital for treatment, noting that the suspects would be chafed to court once the investigation into the case is completed.
