No Pupils Abducted But 3 Teachers Are Missing – Kaduna Govt

Despite media reports, the Kaduna State Government, Northwest Nigeria, claims only three teachers were abducted Monday morning by terrorists from a primary school.

The Kaduna State government, Northwest Nigeria said only three teachers were abducted on Monday morning by terrorists, at a  Birnin-Gwari primary school.

The government had earlier in the day announced that an unspecified number of pupils of the Rima Primary School, Magajingari Ward 2, Birnin-Gwari, were taken away by the terrorists when they stormed the school at about 9 a.m.

But in an update, Samuel Aruwan, the state’s Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, told newsmen that no pupils were abducted but three teachers.

“After thorough investigation, we have discovered that only the three teachers were abducted and are still with the abductors,” Aruwan said.

“The two pupils we thought were abducted have been found from where they fled to,” he said, giving their names as Ahmed Hamidu and Kabitu Yahaya.

The Commissioner stressed: “no pupil of the school was, therefore, abducted.”

He said the terrorists, who stormed the school on motorcycles, herded away a herd of cattle and five motorcycles.
