Nigerian Troops Kill 10 ISWAP Terrorists In Northeast

The soldiers were responding to an attack on the easternmost Local Government in northern Nigeria near Cameroon Republic.

Nigerian troops on Friday, May 28 repelled an attack by Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) in the border town of Rann in Borno State, Northeast Nigeria.

Rann, the headquarters of Kala Balge Local Government, is adjacent to the neighbouring Cameroon Republic.

HumAngle understands that the troops responded after the attackers in multiple gun trucks approached the main route into Rann.

The troops destroyed one gun truck and were reported to have killed 10 terrorists.

Several weapons were also recovered including the heavy machine gun DShK, FN MAG general-purpose machine gun, and AK pattern rifles.

Rann has experienced a series of attacks and fierce clashes between the Nigerian military and insurgents.

In Feb. after a battle, Nigerian troops with Air Task Force combat aircraft support reportedly killed 19 insurgents and destroyed five gun trucks.

The over a decade-old conflict has killed over 37,000 people and displaced more than 2 million people.
