Nigerian Chief of Air Staff Assures Victory Against Insecurity

The Nigerian Chief of Air Staff says the NAF is committed to fighting insecurity until victory is secured.

Oladayo Amao, Nigerian Chief of Air Staff, has said the Nigerian Air Force will not rest until victory is achieved against terrorism and insecurity in the country.

“Now, more than ever before is the time that the Nigerian Air Force must show strength, determination and be undeterred and unrelenting, until the entire country is rid of terrorists and criminal elements,” he said in Minna, Niger State, North-central Nigeria.

The Chief of Air Staff, who was represented by Air Vice Marshal R.N Ekeh, spoke during a condolence visit to the 013 Quick Response unit which lost three air officers in Allawa operation, a few days ago.

He enjoined his men not to relent in their efforts and hard work towards achieving a safer country.

“I urge you to not relent in your dedication and hard work towards achieving our mandate. Let me also remind you that our nation is looking up to us to address the numerous security challenges confronting her.”

Speaking  on the NAF Alpha A Jet  that crashed on Wednesday, March 31, the NAF Chief further debunked the claim by the Boko Haram terror group that it shot down the jet.

He said critical analysis has shown that the air accident was caused by other factors which according to him, would soon be made public.

He assured the 013 Quick Response team that the NAF was doing everything within its power to rescue its pilots and recover its crashed aircraft.

“You are all aware of our efforts to rescue our pilots and recover our crashed aircraft, we will continue to sustain these efforts, the sad situation notwithstanding.”

Nigeria is facing insecurity challenges including insurgency in the Northeast, banditry in the Northwest and North-central, herders-farmers clashes in many parts of the country, kidnappings and inter-ethnic clashes in the South.

Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari, during a meeting last Tuesday with the country’s service chiefs, ordered the military top brass and intelligence chiefs to strengthen their efforts towards identifying the terrorists, kidnappers, and their sponsors, to tame insecurity across the country.
