Nigerian Air Force Destroys ISWAP Guntrucks, Logistics Base

On Monday night, fighters attacked the Niger border town of Dapchi in Bursari local government area, Yobe State

The attack on the town, HumAngle gathered, was bigger than the previous attack that took place on March 4.

During the attack, the fighters burnt down the palace of Dapchi District Head, the General Hospital and looted supplies.

The Air Task Force ‘Operation Lafiya Dole’ scrambled a Helicopter Gunship to intercept and engage the attackers.

In a video released by the Defence headquarters, the gunship is seen engaging and demobilizing gun trucks belonging to the fighters.

Similarly, the Air Task Force on Monday destroyed the logistics base of the Boko Haram/Islamic States of West Africa Province (ISWAP) at Njimia on the fringes of Sambisa Forest in Borno State.

This was achieved through airstrikes conducted following credible intelligence reports as well as series of Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions that led to the identification of the nondescript cluster of structures within the settlement that were being used by the BHTs to house their fuel and other logistics.” Major General John Enenche, Coordinator, Defence Media Operations said in a statement.

Enenche added that the Air Task Force dispatched an attack aircraft and a surveillance platform to take out the target.

“The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) attack assets scored accurate hits in their bombing runs on the target area, completely obliterating the logistics stores as well as causing damage to several other BHT structures in the settlement,” he added.

In the past four and a half years, the AirForce has flown 24,000 hours while conducting 11,300 missions in support of Operation Lafiya Dole, according to operation briefs in a documentary released by the Air force to mark its 56th anniversary.
