Nigeria Troops Kill Scores Of Boko Haram Terrorists
Nigerian army troops have enjoyed increased terrorist kill-streak since appointment of new service chiefs.
Troops of the Nigerian Army have killed at least 81 Boko Haram terrorists in the Sambisa forest, Borno State, Northeast Nigeria.
Multiple sources confirmed that Boko Haram factions are facing sustained offensives from the Nigerian troops since the new service chiefs took over two weeks ago.
PRNigeria reported the troops of Sector 1 comprising troops of 21 and 26 Brigades supported by Multi-National Joint Task Force (MNJTF) cleared terrorists in many villages in their axis, including Garin Bello, Kwoche, Lawanti, Alfa Bula Hassan and Alfa Cross among others.
A military intelligence source told the paper that the troops encountered stiff resistance from the terrorists who laid improvised explosive devices along routes leading to their camps in which some troops either died or sustained injuries.
“The relentless troops destroyed the terrorists’ camps and recovered gun trucks and weapons as NAF aircraft continue to provide close air and interdiction support to the ground forces,” the source said.
“Regrettably a soldier paid the supreme sacrifice with 4 other soldiers wounded in an improvised explosive devices incident.”
In a message to the troops on behalf of the Chief of Army Staff, Major General Ibrahim Attahiru, the Theatre Commander Operation Lafiya Dole, Major General Farouk Yahaya praised the troops and urged them to sustain momentum.
Attahiru urged the troop to avenge the killing of the fallen hero and honour his memory by mercilessly dealing with the terrorists.
