NAPTIP Arrests Kano Teacher For Sodomising Underage Boys

The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has arrested a 35-year-old teacher and resident of Unguwar Kadawa Quarters, Bunkure Local Government Area of Kano State, for allegedly sodomising two underage boys.

Aliyu Abba, NAPTIP’s Public Relations Officer in Kano, confirmed the incident by telephone to HumAngle on Friday.

The command received information that Mohammed suspect sodomised the boys who were his students at Unguwar Kadawa, Kwanar Dillalai Qauters, Abba said.

“On receiving the information, we moved into action and rescued the two victims and arrested the suspect,” he said.


Abba alleged that the suspect, identified as Mohammed, was married and had been an Islamic teacher for the past seven years.

The NAPTIP Kano zonal Commander, Shehu Umar, said the offence of was punishable under the NAPTIP Act.

He said investigation was ongoing and that the suspect would be prosecuted, while the victims would be united with their parents.

Meanwhile, the agency has rescued six victims of human trafficking and arrested one suspect in connection with the matter, Umar said.

He said that the NAPTIP Joint Board Task Force recieved intelligence information on the movement of the victims and the suspect.

“When we recieved the intelligence information on 23rd August, the command carried out an operation and raided New Paradise Hotel in Sabon Gari, which led to the arrest of the suspect and rescue of the victims,” the commander said.

He explained the victims were camped at the hotel for onward movement to Libya.

“The victims are from Abia, Oyo, Ogun and Imo states,” he said, and stressed that
human trafficking was against the law.

He urged the public, especially parents, to always ensure they knew the whereabouts of their children and check up.on them periodically at various Almajiri schools where they were studying.
