Kidnappers Abduct Woman In Nigeria’s Capital
Despite living in a suburb surrounded by DSS operatives, the kidnappers were uninterrupted as they kidnapped the woman.
A married woman was Thursday morning, abducted by armed persons in Abaji area of Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.
The assailants also attacked a Fulani settlement at Kekeshi, in the same area of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), according to a Daily Trust, report.
Abaji is a satellite town in Abuja that borders the North-central state of Kogi with a recent history of attacks and kidnappings.
The kidnappers were said to be in groups, launching simultaneous attacks on two places, at a time the local vigilantes were not on guard.
The abducted woman, identified as Sadiya Badamasi, was in her house with her children and husband when she was, amid deafening gunshots, kidnapped by the gunmen, leaving behind her family, who hid in the toilet.
A resident told Daily Trust that the gunmen had shot sporadically in different directions to discourage security operatives and vigilantes from wading in.
They also destroyed a burglary proof mounted on the window, before abducting the woman. The woman’s compound was said to have been filled with empty bullet shells expended by the kidnappers.
The resident also said that his own house was invaded by the criminals at about 12 a.m. as they made their way through a small gate.
The attackers left unscathed, despite DSS operatives living metres away from the scene of the incident.
They were however unsuccessful at the Fulani settlement at Kekeshi, as vigilantes there engaged them in a shootout, forcing them to disengage and escape, according to another resident.
“They didn’t succeed when they invaded a Fulani settlement at Kekeshi,” the resident said.
When HumAngle contacted Mariam Yusuf, FCT police spokesperson for comments, she requested that our reporter send her an SMS.
But as of the time, this report was filed, she had not responded to our reporter’s text message.
Satellite towns in Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory have come under attacks in recent times.
HumAngle reported an attack on the Kuje area of Abuja by gunmen where four persons were abducted, just two days ago.
They are yet to be released as of press time.
