Kidnappers Abduct APC State Chairman

The Chairman of All Progressive Congress (APC) in Nassarawa State,  Philip Tatari Shekwo, was kidnapped by unknown gunmen in Lafia on Saturday evening.

The Leadership newspaper reported that the house of Shekwo was stormed by gunmen near Dunamis Church, Bukan Sidi, in Lafia, Nassarawa State.

The Police Commissioner, Nassarawa Command,   Emmanuel Bola Longe, confirmed the incident in a telephone interview with the Leadership.

Mr Longe stated that security agencies had reacted swiftly and deployed personnel to different forest locations in the state to ensure the safe release of the chairman.

Meanwhile, the nine students of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria kidnapped along Abuja-Kaduna Highway were reportedly released by their abductors after payment of 1million ransom for each of the students.

The students who were on their way to Lagos for a program at the Nigerian French Language Village, NFLV, were abducted on Sunday last week.

The abductors have initially demanded 270 million ransom for all the kidnapped students but later negotiated it at nine million.
