Governor Aminu Bello Masari, on Sunday apologised to the people of Katsina State affected by violent attacks and called for prayers for leaders.
He charged the military and police to work hard to end the violence on communities, which has become a regular occurrence.
“There’s nothing I can tell you other than to apologise. You cry with tears but we cry with blood because God must question us.
“The only reason these officers are behind us is because of power, What guarantee do we have that this will not happen to us after office? What we do to you today is what will be done to us tomorrow.
“I am trying my best to do my responsibility.
“I plead with everyone who is affected that as people and as leaders we sympathise and apologise, I call on you to pray for leaders always, bad leaders depict bad society Good leaders depict good society.
“We are in hard times, i pray we pass through this.
“I plead with security agents to do whatever possible to see these people are back home, this situation is sad.
“We will provide food and drugs, but the people here will only understand peace.
“I pray that the next time I am here it will only be about education or something not security. I apologise to you, I pray for the dead and injured, the rest of us, may God protect us.”
Masari had said he would no longer dialogue with armed groups terrorising the state because the only language they understood was that of violence.
“We will no longer talk to anyone because they are just like walls, they don’t hear, when you talk to them about God, they don’t even know Him, what they understand is violence,” the governor said when he visited Faskari Local Government Area, where terror gangs had carried out mass killings, arson, abductions and rape.
