About 53 teenagers have been arrested by the Kano State Hisbah officers over alleged involvement in the selling of hard drugs and intoxicants in the Kano city, Kano State, Northwest Nigeria.
Lawal Ibrahim, spokesperson of the Kano Hisbah Board who disclosed this on Wednesday said the suspects were arrested on a tip-off.
He disclosed that the suspects were arrested on Tuesday night at Lamido Crescent in Nassarawa Local Government Area of the state, for selling hard drugs and intoxicants.
The Hisbah spokesperson did not specify the type of hard drugs the suspects were allegedly involved in.
Ibrahim added that the suspects comprise 27 males and 26 females, all of whom are between the ages of 17 and 19.
“Our men went there around 10 pm and arrested 53 suspects,” he said.
He stated that the suspects were properly screened and found that all of them were first time offenders.
It is gathered that immoral activities are prohibited under Sharia Law operating in Kano state.
