Insecurity: Katsina Begins Community Policing With 554 Special Officers

About 554 special constables from Katsina State who just graduated from Police College, Kaduna are to be deployed for community policing in Katsina State, HumAngle has learnt.

Sanusi Buba, Katsina State Commissioner of Police who dropped the hint while addressing journalists at the state Police Command Headquarters on Wednesday urged the new constables to be upright, disciplined and dedicated to duty.

He added that as they were going back to their respective communities to serve, they should be able to help in reducing crime in their areas.

Buba further urged them to follow the rudiments of the training they received as they have the full powers and privileges of a police officer.

The special constables will wear full police black uniforms but would not carry firearms.

They are to be deployed in simple police routine duties such as crowd control, traffic control and patrol duties.

HumAngle reports that the Nigerian Police said it would establish 10 Mobile police units in Katsina State to tackle the ongoing insecurity challenges in the state.
