#HinyUmoren: Serial Rapist Kidnapper And Killer Arrested

The Akwa Ibom State, South-south Police Command says it has arrested a 20-year-old serial rapist as the killer of Ms Umoren.

Police in Akwa Ibom State, South-south Nigeria has identified the killer of Ms. Iniobong Ephraim Umoren, as a 20-year-old Uduak Frank Akpan.

In a press statement released Sunday afternoon, Odiko Macon, Police spokesperson in the state, disclosed that 20-year-old Akpan kidnapped, raped and murdered Umoren.

In the statement, the police revealed that the suspect owned up to being  a serial rapist and Ms Umoren was one of his other rape victims.

On Friday, April 30, the State Police Command said it received a report on the disappearance of the victim. 

Following available leads, officers of the Anti-Kidnapping Squad of the Command, led by CSP Inengiye arrested the perpetrator who confessed to have lured his victim to his house under the guise of giving her a job, but ended up sexually and physically abusing her, leading to her death.

To cover his tracks, he dragged and buried her in a shallow grave in his father’s compound, police said.

According to the statement, the deceased has been exhumed and deposited at University of Uyo teaching hospital (UUTH) for autopsy. 

HumAngle reported that Iniobong Umoren, a job seeker, was declared missing on Thursday, April 29 and was found dead.

Umoren’s friend with the Twitter handle, ‘Happiness Activist @UmohUduak1,’ who had announced on Thursday that Umoren was in trouble after going for a job interview along airport road, disclosed that she has been found dead. 

The suspect, Akpan, confessed to have told his Local Government Chairman of his atrocity before escaping to Calabar and was never at any time handed over to the police by anyone.

The police spokesperson said the suspect would be  charged to court at the conclusion of investigation.

He however further called  on youths and job seekers to be wary of the activities of scammers and other men of the underworld.

While appreciating the efforts of the social media family and other fighters of injustice, he condoled with the family and friends of the deceased.
