Gunmen believed to be members of a terror group stormed communities in Faskari and Dandume local government areas of katsina State early on Thursday morning, killed three persons, abducted 11 females and injured many others, the police and witnesses said.
The criminals attacked Albasu, Mahuta Gidan Gizo, Zurai and Dadagushi villages in the two local government areas, HumAngle learnt.
Iliyasu Sale, a local farmer in Dagashu village of Dandume Local Government Area, HumAngle that “the group rode into our village around 1a.am; over 200 of them invaded the village around 1a.m. on Thursday morning, killed two male adults and kidnapped nine females.”
“They also killed a middle-aged man, 37-year-old man simply identified as Nasiru Aliu and displaced many villagers in the Gidan Gizo community,” Sale added.
HumAngle learnt that Aliu was shot at close range when the criminals entered his house and demanded money which he said he did not have.
Sources told HumAngle that the criminals also injured four persons and kidnapped two sisters – Amina Mudi, 23; and Zainaru Mudi, 20, in Albasu.
In June, the gunmen raided Albasu village and killed one Alhaji Tsoho Baraki, the Katsina State vigilante leader.
“The bandits were going from house to house. At Alhaji Mudi’s house, they abducted his two daughters and took them away. Several people were also injured by the bandits.” Abdussalam Haruna said the attack in his community.
The Katsina Police Command Spokesperson, Gambo Isah, confirmed the incident and said that “the bandits were at the village and they killed one 37-year-old man whose name was given as Nasiru Alilu.
“They also abducted two ladies, Zainaru Alhaji Mudi, 20, and Amina Alhaji Mudi, 23. Four persons were injured in the attack.”
On Tuesday, terrorists invaded a community in Kurfi Local Government Area of Katsina State, kidnapped one teenager and carted away food items.
In July, the Nigerian Army established Special Army Super Camp IV and launched Operation Sahel Sanity Exercise in Faskari Local Government Area to check terror attacks in Katsina, Kaduna, Zamfara, Kebbi, Sokoto and Niger states.
