Gunmen Kidnap Kogi Traditional Ruler Hours After Zamfara Emir’s Attack

Shaibu Usman, the Acting Eje Of Ankpa, was kidnapped on Friday at about 5:30 am, while entering a mosque in Ankpa, a Local Government Area in Kogi State.

Sources available to HumAngle revealed that the kidnappers laid ambush at the mosque and zoomed off immediately with the traditional ruler to a yet-to-be ascertained destination.

At the time of filing, the abductors of the monarch were yet to make contact with the family.

The Kogi State Commissioner of Police, Ayuba Edeh, confirmed the incident and stated that the law enforcement agency would not rest on its oars until the Acting Eje of Ankpa was released.

“The police had cordoned off all entry and exit points into the State, with the view to rescuing the traditional ruler,” he added.

Reacting to the incident, the Kogi State Commissioner for Information, Kingsley Fanwo, said: “Efforts are on to ensure that the traditional ruler is secured safely”. He added that the state government was working with security agencies to achieve this.

The abduction is taking place hours after the convoy belonging to the Emir of Kaura Namoda, Sanusi Muhammad Asha, was attacked along Funtua-Zaria road, leading to the killing of eight people, including three policemen.
