Four Dead, Many Injured In Another Attack On Zamfara Community

Many were feared dead as terrorists attacked Gidan Goga of Maradun Local Government Area, Zamfara State, northwestern Nigeria, on Thursday, October 29.

Daily Trust reported that armed men riding on motorcycles invaded the community and fired sporadically before carting away cows and other domestic animals.

A former commissioner for Education in the state, who also hails from the community, Alhaji Ibrahim Danmalikin Gidan Goga, said the gunmen arrived in the afternoon.

“Soldiers were alerted and they arrived even before the armed criminals fled. Gun duel ensued between soldiers and the bandits.

“I can’t tell you the precise number of people that died in the attack now, but I can tell you that many of the residents have fled the community,” he told Daily Trust.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, SP Mohammed Shehu, confirmed the incident and said the security apparatuses were deployed immediately after they received calls from the resident.

In a release, Shehu said the terrorists “fled before the arrival of the joint security operatives.

“Unfortunately, four people were killed by the bandits while three others were injured.

“Victims are now responding to treatment at Federal Medical Centre, Gusau.”

The Commissioner of Police in Zamfara, CP Usman Nagogo, has ordered an investigation and ordered the arrest of perpetrators of the attack.
