Environmental Preservation Is Affair Of Everyone, Says Chadian Environment Minister

The Chadian Minister of Environment, Water and Fisheries has called on the Chadian people to “feel concerned by the preservation of the environment” which should be the preoccupation of everybody.

Mr. Brahim Mahamat Djamaladine who was speaking on Saturday August 29, 2020 during the launching of the National Week of the Tree in the capital N’Djamena declared that “the environment is not the affair of the minister alone.

The environment is the business of everyone. Everyone should be implicated at the level of the villages, the councils, the prefectures and the regions – let everybody feel concerned by the environment”

According to the minister, “Chad is seriously affected by climatic changes and if we are not careful, by not being visionary, we risk leaving for the future generations, a Chad where there would be no good life”.

“Today, the anthropic pressure is loud and clear. In spite of the sensitization efforts, mobilization is not being carried out at a certain level.

On the occasion of the launching of the National Week of the Tree, we reiterate this appeal to a certain level and we dare believe that this appeal is heard.

We have the unshakeable support of the marshal of Chad (meaning recently self-crowned Marshal of the army Idris Deby Itno) and it is obligatory for every citizen to be involved”, Mr. Brahim Mahamat Djamaladine declared.

The launching of the National Week of the Tree took place in the Faculty of Judicial and Political Sciences of the King Faycal University in Farcha.

The minister said the idea of launching the week in an educational facility was to “make every youth, from kindergarten to the university understand that they must live with the environment.

“They must love trees, plant trees, maintain the trees, because it concerns the survival of future generations,” he added.
