#EndSARS: Protest Turns Violent As Police Teargas Protesters in Jos

#EndSARS protest in Jos, Plateau State, North Central Nigeria, turned violent on Friday as police personnel teargassed some protesters, who in turn damaged police vehicles and other properties.

An eyewitness told HumAngle that some hoodlums who pretended to be protesters provoked the police to fire teargas by stoning them.

According to the witness, the thugs used the opportunity to loot goods belonging to traders at Yakubu Gowon Way, Jos.

The witness said other youths tried to force their way to the Governor’s Office to register their support for the ongoing protest against police brutality and insecurity in the country but faced police resistance.

A similar attempt by protesters to enter the Governor’s Office on Wednesday, October 14, was unsuccessful as police dispersed them.

The #EndSARS protests continue to engage youth in different parts of Nigeria who are campaigning against police brutality and in some parts such as Lago and Abuja protesters block highways and cause gridlocks.

Motorists on the Lugbe axis of Abuja, experienced more than six hours of gridlock on Friday, October 16, after protesters blocked Airport Road, which leads to Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport.
