#EndSARS: Ministers Seek Emir’s Help In Peace Building

The Minister of Defence, Maj.-Gen. Bashir Salihi Magashi (rtd), and the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Alhaji Sabo Muhammad Nanono, have urged the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero to be a stakeholder towards ending violent protests in Kano State.

The ministers made the appeal during a courtesy visit to the emir’s palace as part of efforts to end attacks by rioters on public and private assets.

The ministers’ efforts derive from a directive of the presidency for members of the cabinet to return to their constituents to help quel street riots which erupted after the violent disruption of the peaceful #EndSARS protest in Lekki, Lagos State.

The Special Assistant, Media and Publicity to the Minister of Defence, Muhammed Abdulkadir, on Monday, made the facts about the visit known in a statement.

“The aim of the visit is to achieve mutual understanding and everlasting peace among the citizens and government in the state,” Abdulkadir said.

The ministers acknowledged the role of traditional institutions in peace building, pointing out that they had the network that could easily connect with the youth.

The Emir, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, commended President Muhammadu Buhari for assigning ministers to engage in the peace building assignment.

He promised to help bring to an end violent and unlawful protests in Kano State.
