Conservationists Hold Forum On Protection Of “Big Monkeys” In Cameroon And Congo

The Alliance for the Conservation of Big Monkeys in Central Africa (GSAC) will from November 18 to 19 this year organise a forum in Yaounde under the theme “Local Initiatives for the Durable Protection of the Big Monkeys of the Forests of Cameroon and the Congo Basin”.

The come-together is intended to valorize the visibility and the promotion of local initiatives carried out by the Cameroon civil society and those of Central African countries geared towards the community protection of the big monkeys of the ecosystems of the forests of the Congo Basin.

The main objective is to promote the community approach to the conservation of the big monkeys in the forests of the Congo Basin through panel discussions, environmental, educational sessions and the sharing of knowledge and experiences between conservationists, researchers, local actors, donors and decision makers.

The forum will be open to the public and would be organized in partnership with the French committee of the International Union for the Conservation of Nature, the United States Wildlife Service and the French Embassy in Cameroon.
