Another Police Station Set Ablaze In Southeast Nigeria After Anambra Attack

Two police stations in Abia and Anambra states, Southeast Nigeria have been attacked and set ablaze by armed groups in what looked like another set of coordinated attacks.

A divisional police station in Uzuakoli in Bende Local Government Area of Abia State, Southeast Nigeria has been razed by an armed group in the early hours of Monday morning.

According to The Punch, the armed group attacked the police station at about 2 a.m. WAT and freed suspects in police cells before setting the station ablaze.

The attack happened about the same time as the attack on Zonal Police Headquarters, Zone 13 in Ukpo, Dunukofia Local Government Area of Anambra State, also in Southeast Nigeria.

On Monday, April 5, over 1000 prison inmates were set free after a coordinated attack at a correctional facility in Imo State, Southeast Nigeria by suspected separatist fighters.

The armed group also attacked the Police Headquarters in Owerri, Imo State capital on the same day.

“Uzuakoli Divisional Police headquarters has been razed. The gunmen attacked it before torching it. They freed suspects but fortunately, no life was lost,” The Punch quoted a source as saying.

Police in Abia State were yet to issue any official statement on the attack. The state’s Police Public Relations Officer was not immediately available for comments when contacted by HumAngle.
