ADF Rebels Kill 2 Civilians In DR Congo
At least two civilians were killed, with several others injured after rebels invaded Ngaka village in Mambasa territory in Congo.
Two civilians were killed Wednesday, May 12, in an attack by Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) rebels on Ngaka village in Mambasa territory, DR Congo.
“The ADF rebels arrived very early in the morning of Wednesday, May 12 and killed at least two civilians. This is just a provisional figure,” Idriss Kokodila, the administrator of the Mambasa territory revealed.
“This happened on the Mambasa-Beni highway where they succeeded in carting away animals and goods belonging to the population of the village of Ngaka who were four kilometres to Makumo on the national highway number 4.”
Kokodila said the army was in pursuit of the rebels, adding that calm had returned to the region.
But, Gilbert Sibamwenda, President of the local civil society group of Bangole gave a much higher casualty figure noting that seven civilians were killed.
“The rebels killed more than seven civilians in the village of Ngaka and its environs. There should be big military operations in the area because they (ADF rebels) are scattered all over the area,” Sibamwenda revealed.
