The police have confirmed that one of the abducted students of Bethel Baptist Secondary School in Kaduna State, Northwest Nigeria was part of the three persons  who escaped captivity and was found by the police on patrol.

Muhammad Jalige, the police spokesperson in the state, in a statement on Tuesday, July 13, 2021, said the kidnaped victims were found by a joint security force on routine rescue patrol around the forest in Tsohon Gaya village of Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State on Monday.

HumAngle reported that terrorists locally known as bandits abducted more than hundred students of Bethel Baptist School located in Maraban Rido, Chikun Local Government Area of the state on Monday, July 5,2021.

Jalige, who identified the rescued escapee as  Abraham Aniya, said the student, alongside two others, Zaharaddeen Ibrahim and Nura Nuhu, was  found extremely exhausted after roaming the bush.

The police spokesperson did not give any further detail about the condition of the rest of the abducted students.

He, however, noted that “the Police Command is currently relentless in ensuring that more victims are rescued within the shortest possible time.”

According to him, the rescued persons were taken to Police Clinic Kaduna for medical checkup before they would be handed over to their immediate families.

Following the students’ abduction, Israel Akanji, the president of the Nigerian Baptist Convention (NBC), who appeared to be in tandem with the state government’s no-negotiation policy, had said no ransom would be paid for the release of the abducted students.

“As a church, we do not believe that people who are free should be taken and then we should go and pay for them,” Akanji had said.

Nasir El-rufai, the Governor of the state has come under criticism for not addressing the insecurity while insisting on not negotiating with the terrorists.
